Kyushu Travel Map
Kyushu is an expansive island with countless breathtaking spots to discover. Even with a packed itinerary focusing solely on highlights, I recommend allocating at least 5 to 7 days (and even then, you may only be able to explore either Northern Kyushu or Southern Kyushu). A trip of 7 to 10 days will provide a much more well-rounded experience. If you wish to do an in-depth tour covering the entire island from north to south, plan for at least 10 days or more!
Finally, I've plotted all Kyushu attractions, restaurants, and accommodation recommendations into a custom Google Map, covering all seven prefectures: Fukuoka, Saga, Oita, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, and Miyazaki. It's a handy, on-the-go tool for your trip, so feel free to save and share it!
Kyushu is truly an incredible destination for independent travelers. Its sensational gastronomy, deep-rooted culture, vibrant festivals, and diverse natural landscapes constantly amaze me. I am confident you will find your own favorite rhythm and enjoy an unforgettable Kyushu journey!
