Top 2 Must-Visit Spots in Noosa Heads: Noosa Main Beach & Noosa National Park!

Noosa Heads | Top 2 Recommended Attractions

The Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are Queensland's two most famous and frequently visited coastal getaways. Situated right at the northern tip of the Sunshine Coast lies Noosa Heads, home to two top-tier highlights: Noosa Main Beach and Noosa National Park.

Today, I’m sharing this comprehensive guide to Noosa's key attractions, transportation, accommodation, and travel tips. Whether you are planning a day trip, a weekend getaway, or an extended seaside vacation, this guide has got you covered!

1. Noosa Main Beach

True to its name, this is the premier beach in the Noosa area and an absolute must-visit. Notably, it is the only north-facing beach on Australia's east coast. Much like other legendary Australian shorelines such as Manly Beach and Surfers Paradise, Noosa Main Beach boasts stunning natural scenery, lined with upscale boutiques, charming cafés, specialty restaurants, and weekend artisan markets.

If you love watersports, you will find an endless variety of activities here, including fishing, jet boating, surfing, sailing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Many Australian locals bring their own boats to cruise along the adjacent riverways in search of hidden sandbanks, while scuba enthusiasts often explore the nearby HMAS Brisbane shipwreck. All in all, if you want to soak up an authentic Australian coastal resort atmosphere, this is definitely my top recommendation!

Outdoor swimming pool and tropical palm gardens at The Noosa Apartment resort

(Even if you drive, fitting Noosa into a single day trip feels quite rushed; spending at least two days is strongly recommended. My friends and I chose to stay 3 days and 2 nights at The Noosa Apartments [Book on: Booking | Agoda]. The pricing is very reasonable with frequent promotional discounts, the staff speaks multiple languages, and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking your own meals. It feels wonderfully spacious and cozy just like home—highly recommended! Pictured above is the shared resort pool.)

(Running parallel to the beach, Hastings Street is the central boulevard of this precinct. Beyond the rich array of businesses, the street is celebrated for its unique town planning rule where buildings cannot exceed tree height. While walking along, not every structure is tiny, but the towering double rows of lush trees provide generous shade and a tranquil walking environment. The diverse variety of flora creates a genuinely lovely streetscape!)

(Here is the pricing board for rental gear on the beach. Noosa Main Beach is exceptionally visitor-friendly with an extensive selection of beach hire equipment. Unlike many other Australian beaches that only rent surfboards or lack rental shops entirely, here you will see colorful beach umbrellas and sun cabanas lining the coast—a delightful sight unique to Noosa in Queensland.)

(Noosa National Park features five distinct walking tracks, with the longest routes taking upwards of 2 to 3 hours. Depending on your schedule, if you're looking for an easy, scenic stroll, Track 4 [the Coastal Track] is highly recommended. It hugs the stunning coastline all the way, treating you to breathtaking ocean panoramas.)

(We chose Track 4, where the scenery is ruggedly distinct from Main Beach—featuring dramatic coastal cliffs and rocky shores. Along the path, you will also pass the famous Fairy Pools, natural rock tidal pools that are immensely popular with Australian Instagrammers. Don't miss capturing photos here!)

(Finally, towards the end of Track 4 on the eastern side of Noosa National Park, lies the peaceful Alexandria Beach. There are noticeably fewer tourists here, making it a wonderful sanctuary if you crave quiet solitude beside the sea.)
